Present your blog photos stylishly
Other than photo slideshows, you can also also mix up your photo styling within a blog post or page by using the Tiled Galleries feature available through Jetpack.
This optional addition to your WordPress blog makes it possible to “create elegant magazine-style mosaic layouts for your photos without using an external graphic editor” (Jetpack). These layout styles can be rectangular, square, or circular galleries.
The rectangular and square tiled galleries have hover-over captions incorporated. All of the galleries should display in a full-size carousel view if you click on them.
By default, when you add a gallery to a post or page, it will be in the standard thumbnail grid layout (find out how to add a gallery and what the default looks like here). To change the default to the new option of rectangular layouts, go to the Media section under your Settings tab within your WordPress dashboard, and check mark the box that says “Display all your gallery pictures in a cool mosaic.” You don’t have to make it the default to use these new feature, though — just choose the type when creating each individual gallery.
You can check out the other tiled gallery options in a blog post by WordPress.com here.
To find out how to create a photo gallery, whether in the standard grid layout or in one of these new tiled gallery options, read my article on how to create a photo gallery and get the basics there!
