Post to your blog by email
Blog posting by email is another feature that Jetpack makes available. With the Post by Email add-on, you can do exactly what it’s name says: post on your blog just by sending an email. “Any email client can be used to send the email, allowing you to publish quickly and easily from devices such as cell phones.”
While it’s not for everyone, it may be just the quick-fix for you if you work better with emails than the WordPress dashboard. I personally prefer not to use this feature, since I like to be able to fully customize my individual blog posts and preview them before they go live. Typically, if I think of an article idea when I’m not around my computer, I use the WordPress app on my phone to type it out, saving it as a draft for later editing, previewing, and publishing. But if you think this add-on will work great for you, give it a try!
1) From within your blog’s dashboard, go to the Jetpack dashboard (“Jetpack” under the “Jetpack” tab on the left). 2) Click to activate the “Post by Email” feature, then “configure”. You will be automatically redirected to your profile under the “Users” tab. 3) Click on the “enable post by email” button to receive a random email address. This is the email address you will be sending posts to; if you don’t like it, click on “regenerate address”.
Make sure no one else gets their hands on this address, since anyone that knows it can theoretically publish a post to your blog. If there are multiple author for your blog, each person will have to connect separately to the Post by Email feature and receive their own unique email address to send articles to.
Posting by Email
When you send an email to this address, keep in mind that everything within the email will be published to your readers. The email subject line will be your post’s title; the body is the post’s content. Make sure you send it to your own unique email address, not to the one in the picture below!Formatted text is only available if the email system (e.g., Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, Outlook) you use makes that available to you. Otherwise, the text will be plain and unmodified.
Picture attachments can also be included; if you only have one image attached, it will be published within the text, while multiple ones will display as a gallery.
Shortcodes, categories, tags, polls, and more are all available to further modify your post; go to Jetpack’s article on this feature for more details on more information on which and how to use these codes.
You should receive a notification via email that your post was published. This information is from Jetpack’s article on its Post by Email feature, available here–go there for more details and help.
