Show off your photos in a full-screen experience
Yet another photo option that Jetpack has available to WordPress.org and WordPress.com users is its Carousel feature.
Carousel “transform[s] your standard image galleries into an immersive full-screen experience” (Jetpack menu’s description of Carousel). By clicking on one picture within an image gallery (such as the sample one below), the picture view expands to fill your computer screen, with the default black background further enhancing the attention to the photo. This option also allows clicking through the photo slides and commenting on individual pictures.
Click on the sample gallery below to see what it’ll look like implemented on one of your WordPress sites.
Find this feature within the Jetpack menu, then click on “activate”.
If you go into the configure menu for this component, you have a couple of choices on settings. The background can be either black or white. You can also choose to show or hide the metadata for each photo when available. Although there’s a third option available in the media settings to display all the gallery pictures in a cool mosaic, that applies more so to how it appears before someone clicks on it and turns it into a carousel; when it’s a tiled gallery. Whether or not you activate this feature in Jetpack is based solely how you want your photos to appear when clicked on; try clicking on a photo in a gallery with Carousel implemented and without it to decide.
