If you’re like me, you probably like to change up your blog’s appearance every once in a while. But you don’t have to install a completely new theme necessarily. That can just be too much of a hassle!
Changing the colors, moving around the widgets, switching fonts–they’re all doable; depending on the theme, of course. But you’re limited without plugins–there just aren’t enough options in the editor panel. I recently discovered a great plugin that will allow you to super easily change the fonts for your headers, pages, and posts; called WP Google Fonts. It’ll change your boring Arial to an interesting Jura one, with minimal effort.
To implement this plugin, search for and install WP Google Fonts as you would any other plugin. Then to choose your fonts, click on “Google Fonts” button beneath the Settings tab to go to the control panel. Pick your choosen fonts in the drop-down menu, and check which aspects you would like them to apply to. You can view each particular font here before making your decision: www.google.com/webfonts.
Just a few thoughts: 1) keep your font choices to a maximum of two–and make sure that they go together well, 2) choose them based on the purpose your blog serves; if it’s a professional one, choose an applicable font–but if it’s a personal weblog, go with the curlicues if you so desire, and 3) stick to easy-to-read fonts.
