Add “about the author” information at the end of your blog posts
Having your bio information at the end of your posts is a great way to enhance name and business recognition. You might want to give your readers a few more details about yourself, services you provide, and social media sites they can connect with you on. And while WordPress will show your username on each post you write, it doesn’t automatically add anything further or give you options besides how your name shows up.
You may be able to add an author’s bio to your posts via whichever theme you’re using–check your theme’s settings. However, if there isn’t that option available, or if you’d like a different look, try a plugin (plugins are available with self-hosted WordPress.org sites, not the free WordPress.com blogs).
The amount and variety of plugins to choose from are plentiful; however, I chose to try out the Starbox – the Author Box for Humans one. This particular plugin gives you several options; from choosing to place the author bio at the top or bottom of posts, to picking from six different looks. But the main reason I chose this plugin to highlight was because of the ability to have a bio box for each author. This isn’t necessary for Be Blog Smart, since I write all of the content, but for those of you who have multiple bloggers or even guest bloggers, this would be useful and appropriate. This plugin would enhance the individual and knowledgeable contributors to your site, thereby increasing your business’s or site’s reputation and expert advice.
The How To
Search for the “Starbox” plugin under the “add new” option under the Plugins tab. Install and activate; you’ll be taken directly to Starbox’s settings. They have the settings pretty much set up and ready to go for you, for those of you who don’t want to bother with tweaking it.
Just be sure to add your bio information by clicking on “go to user settings”. If you have different users (such as editors, writers, and/or contributors), each user also has the ability to have a short bio at the end of every post they write. Your bio box user settings will now be within the “your profile” section of the Users tab.
Another option with this plugin: should you desire your author box to show up within your post instead, simply insert the [ starbox ] shortcode (if you have multiple authors, you’ll add the shortcode [ starbox id=USER_ID ]) anywhere within your post, page, or even widget.
Yet another reason to go with this plugin is its ability to show the latest posts from that particular author–not just the latest posts on the website.
