To go from nothing to blogging, you’ve got to obviously take those first few steps. WordPress.com makes it quick and easy to get your blog up on the Internet.
1. Sign up!
Go to WordPress.com to register your account. The process involves choosing your permanent .wordpress.com web address. It’s permanent–so choose wisely; if the one you want isn’t available, brainstorm–browse for synonyms, think of another word that explains a different aspect of what you wish to accomplish on your blog, etc. Be aware that if you realize later you chose the wrong address or if you want a .com name without the “wordpress” bit in it, you can simply purchase a domain name through WordPress or a domain provider such as GoDaddy.com.
2. Start blogging!
And that’s it on the required steps to get a blog up and going!
3. Choosing a theme (optional):
If you don’t like the default theme (“Twenty Ten”), then you can go to your Dashboard (By going to WordPress.com, signing in, and hovering over the “My Blogs” tab at the top). Once you are in your Dashboard, choose the “Themes” option under the “Appearance” button on the left. There you can browse themes and preview them prior to activating them for your own blog.
