A few of the most used widgets in WordPress
When you first set up your WordPress blog, you’ll automatically have several widgets (15, as of this writing) available for your use. These are default, preloaded additions to your WordPress installation–and some of the most widely used widgets since everyone has them. Based on personal observance, the majority of blogs I’ve seen use the following three widgets:
- Recent Posts widget
- Search widget
- Categories widget
As soon as you connect your WordPress.org blog to Jetpack (WordPress.com blogs already will have Jetpack active), you’ll have even more popular widgets available. The most common widgets through Jetpack are:
- Twitter widget
- Image widget
Besides the default widgets that WordPress pre-loads, there are countless widgets that you can install onto your WordPress site, via the plugins directory. According to my search for the most popular widgets installed via plugins, these are the five most popular plugins with widgets:
- Google Analyticator
- Google Analytics Dashboard for WP
- Page Builder by SiteOrigin
- Comprehensive Google Map Plugin
- WP e-Commerce
Which of these plugins with widgets have you tried and recommend?
