WordPress SEO suggestions for your site
When blogging with WordPress, you have a great base to use in building up your blog’s search engine optimization (SEO). But don’t just leave it at that; you need to invest some time in building up your viewership. And try not to get discouraged–it takes time to build up an audience even while putting in the effort.
Try a few of these steps from WordPress.com’s blog to build up the SEO on your site (and click here to check out all their suggestions):
- Add your About page. While your About Me widget is great (especially since it’s the first thing that people will see about you on your site), direct people from there to your About page. There you can have a couple of paragraphs introducing yourself and your blog.
- Activate Jetpack’s Publicize. This will connect your blog with your social profiles on Twitter, Facebook and more–automatically publishing your blog posts on those social sites. (Although if you want to do it manually, you can still schedule them in advance using HootSuite).
- Write Well. Quality, consistent content: it’s the mantra that we as bloggers hear pounded in our heads all the time. But…it’s what matters the most. If people don’t want to read what you write (because it has grammatical/spelling errors, doesn’t have much effort or thought put into it, etc), then they won’t come back.
- Interact. Comment on other blogger’s posts; share content and converse with others on social media sites; respond to every comment on your site; and share your site with others through word-of-mouth, putting your website on your email signature, etc.
